An Alabama Department of Transportation project on Alabama Highway 51 in Dale County will begin Monday, January 29, weather permitting.
The project will consist of resurfacing and shoulder widening on Alabama Highway 51 from U.S. Highway 231 to the Barbour County line.
There will be lane closures and a reduced speed limit throughout the project.
Motorists are advised to plan accordingly for delays and be mindful of equipment and people working in the work zone.
ALDOT awarded the project to Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc., out of Dothan, Ala., who had the lowest bid that met project requirements, at a cost of approximately $2.5 million. The project is expected to be completed early Summer 2024.
