The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to resurface and place new traffic striping on a portion of US-80 in Sumter County to improve mobility and safety.
The 6.6-mile project will take place from the US-80 and SR-17 interchange to west of Pine Street Northeast.
The project, which will also include ramp work, is expected to begin Monday, April 15 and will continue until fall 2024, weather permitting.
The contractor may reduce traffic to one lane within the work zone on weekdays from 7 a.m. through 5:30 p.m.
S.T. Bunn Construction Company was awarded the project at $6.72 million.
Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work zone speed limits.
