The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to continue fully rebuilding a portion of US-11 in Coaling to improve mobility and safety.

The first half of the project near Ed Stephens Road and Dudley Road was completed in late March. The next phase of the project will continue from south of Palmer Street to north of Middle Coaling Road until mid-summer 2024, weather permitting.

The contractor expects to resume work on or around Wednesday, May 1 and will place a portable barrier wall that will reduce traffic to one lane. The contractor will install temporary portable traffic signals to help manage traffic flow and enhance safety.

Abramson was awarded the project at $6.2 million.

Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work zone speed limits.
