A $2.5 million resurfacing project will start Friday night on US-43/US-72 (Woodward Avenue) in Tuscumbia and Muscle Shoals.
Weather permitting, the contractor, Rogers Group, will close the eastbound outside lane throughout the weekend for deep patching. The contractor anticipates reopening the lane early Monday.
Milling to remove the old asphalt surface will begin Sunday evening. Milling and paving will take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly to minimize traffic impacts .
The project includes 3.6 miles of the highway from the intersection of SR-20 in Tuscumbia to the intersection of SR-184 in Muscle Shoals.
Completion is anticipated this fall.
