The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced a planned lane closure on I-85 North beginning at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 23rd as part of a bridge widening project.
What to Expect:
- Location: A one-lane closure for approximately one mile on I-85 North at Line Creek. This lane is 2.5 miles north of Exit 16 (Waugh/Pike Road) in Macon County. The Southbound lanes will remain open while work is being performed Northbound.
- Duration: The lane closure will be in effect around the clock for bridge rehabilitation. Once northbound lanes are complete, work will shift to the southbound lanes. The contractor aims to finish both directions by Thanksgiving, with an incentive from ALDOT for early completion.
- Impact: Delays are expected. If possible, consider using alternate routes during this time.
- Safety: Drivers should slow down to the reduced speed limits and be extra cautious of workers and equipment in work zones.
ALDOT apologizes in advance for the inconvenience that this may cause.
