The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) applauds the anticipated early completion of the bridge replacement and intersection improvement project on SR-5 over the SR-69 (US-78A) underpass in Jasper.
The project includes new traffic signals at the intersection of SR-5 and SR-195, along with the bridge ramps. The contractor will place traffic signal poles this week, with the signals expected to be fully operational within two weeks. This final step will wrap up the project two months ahead of schedule.
“We are pleased to finish this project ahead of schedule,” West Central Region Engineer Wallace McAdory said. “Completing the bridge and intersection improvement project early means safer and easier travel. This project not only enhances mobility and safety, but also lays a stronger foundation for economic development in the Jasper community.”
Governor Kay Ivey, along with state and local officials, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in late August to mark the bridge opening.
ALDOT awarded Wright Brothers Construction Company the $8.8 million contract for the project.
