The Alabama Department of Transportation is advising motorists to maintain safe driving behaviors during today’s solar eclipse.
Drivers are urged to not pull over at unsafe locations, such as stopping on interstates or any roadways, to view the eclipse. Motorists should also be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists who may be looking skyward.
While not in the path of the total eclipse, Alabamians can still enjoy this rare event. In addition, Alabamians can also watch live with NASA.
“ALDOT encourages everyone who wishes to view the eclipse to do so safely,” said Drive Safe Alabama coordinator Allison Green. “A safe viewing experience would include not only the proper eye protection we have all heard so much about, but also a distraction-free drive to and from an appropriate viewing location.” ALDOT’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation network across Alabama.
