As of noon today, motorists are traveling toll-free on the Baldwin Beach Express Bridge. This change comes after ALDOT acquired the bridge for $57 million. The toll removal is effective at noon on May 23, 2024.
The transition to a toll-free bridge aims to provide unrestricted access, facilitating easier and more efficient travel for all users. By eliminating the toll, ALDOT hopes to relieve congestion on Highway 59, improve traffic flow and support local economic activity by making the route more accessible for both residents and visitors.
This initiative underscores ALDOT’s commitment to improving Alabama’s transportation network, ensuring that infrastructure development keeps pace with the state’s growth and needs.
