The Alabama Department of Transportation will close part of SR-64 in Lauderdale County for a pipe replacement Tuesday, Aug. 27.
Work to replace the pipe under the roadway will begin shortly after 8 a.m. ALDOT anticipates reopening the road that afternoon.
The highway will be closed to all traffic at about milepost 8, just east of Pettus Cemetery. The road will be closed to commercial traffic at US-43 at Greenhill and SR-101 in Lexington. Trucks will be detoured to US-72.
Passenger vehicles may use local alternate routes. Message boards will notify the public about the closure and detours.
