The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is stepping up its efforts to attract top talent for the future. ALDOT representatives are actively participating in career fairs across the state, engaging with students and recent graduates to showcase the rewarding opportunities available within the department.
ALDOT recently participated in the University of Alabama’s fall career fair September 18-19 where thousands of students poured into Coleman Coliseum to learn about future employment.
ALDOT’s PCET program is designed for students nearing graduation with a degree in civil engineering. It offers hands-on experience and exposure to real-world projects within state roadways and bridges. As a PCET, students work closely with professionals to gain valuable knowledge in design, construction and maintenance.
Caitlyn Wright, Fayette Area Traffic Engineer, said she enjoyed taking part in the career fair and was encouraged by the 72 resumes they received.
“It’s great to be back at Alabama to recruit students to ALDOT,” said Wright, who graduated in 2016. “I was part of the PCET program and stayed full time and it was something that helped me. I think students should know about the opportunities ALDOT provides. I’m able to share my experiences with them and hopefully recruit some future engineers.”
ALDOT representatives discuss the department’s various roles. They are also emphasizing the opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and making a positive impact on communities throughout Alabama.
By actively participating in career fairs, ALDOT aims to attract the best and brightest engineering talent to join its team and help shape the future of transportation in Alabama.
ALDOT is recruiting employees in Civil Engineering, Anthropology, Historic Preservation and Architecture. We are also looking to fill State Professional Trainee roles as Right-of-Way Coordinators.
