Contractor A.G. Peltz is currently working to reconstruct a segment of I-59 northbound just south of the project Wiregrass Construction is slated to begin Monday.

Work will begin Monday on a $41 million project to reconstruct part of I-59 in northeast Alabama.

Though ultimately contractor Wiregrass Construction will remove and replace more than eight miles of the northbound roadway, from Hammondville to the Georgia state line, initial work will focus on rehabilitation of the southbound roadway.

I-565 from west of County Line Road in Limestone County to east of Wall Triana Highway in Madison will be widened to six lanes in a project anticipated to begin this summer. The additional lanes will primarily be constructed to the inside of the existing roadways, where there is currently a grassy median.

ALDOT opened bids today for a project to expand I-565 to six lanes from County Line Road to Wall Triana Highway in Madison.
